The “yellow house”, located at the foot of Arrecife’s main shopping street, is the old seat of the island’s government, and is now an art gallery and information centre. Here’s what to expect when you visit.

Once the old seat of the Lanzarote Cabildo, La Casa Amarilla was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC) in 2002 and the building underwent thorough renovations until it was completed in 2014.

Nowadays it is an art gallery and information centre, hosting fascinating exhibitions covering the islands history and culture.

The gallery’s exhibition take place on the ground floor of the building and often feature visual, audio and physical exhibits displaying old texts, clothes, figures and more.

BOOKING INFORMATION

The Casa Amarilla is open Monday – Friday from 10am until 6pm and on Saturdays from 10am until 2:30pm and takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to see all of an exhibition.

Entry is free.
