Segittur have awarded Puerto del Carmen with the “Destino Turístico Inteligente 2022”, Intelligent Tourist Desination 2022, certification. To achieve this, five requirements must be met in the areas of sustainability, accessibility, governance, technology, and innovation.
The Ayuntamieno joined the Destino Turístico Inteligentes programme in 2020 and has since received a report on the resort.
The Tías Ayuntamiento’s Tourism Councillor, Mame Fernández, stated that “the municipality is celebrating. After joining the Destino Turístico Inteligentes programme in 2020, and with this report, we can gain an evaluation of the resort.”.
Tías’ Tourism Department states that the report allows a comprehensive review of five areas which include sustainability, accessibility, governance, technology, and innovation, and has listed 205 recommendations necessary to achieve a full DTI distinction. These recommendations are then incorporated into the Ayuntamiento’s municipal plans.
Currently, the Ayuntamiento are advancing towards phase 4 of the DTI’s 5 phase plan.
As well as an evaluation of the resort, the programme allows for resorts to connect with one another and communicate ideas.
