How to get to Lanzarote’s many markets

Here’s a quick guide to the biggest markets on Lanzarote, from charming farmer’s markets where you can buy fresh produce, to handicrafts and souvenirs and gifts.

TEGUISE

Open on Sundays from 9am to 2pm, Teguise Market is one of Lanzarote’s most popular outings.

A local shopkeeper, Laura Manfield, told us “There is so much to explore at Teguise Market on a Sunday, all the local shops in and around the streets of Teguise are open and waiting for you! From cafes and restaurants to local crafts, arts, clothing and much more. The market stalls are only a small part of Teguise on a Sunday so make sure you don’t miss out on all the shops as well; you never know what you might find! We are waiting to welcome you!”

If travelling by bus, you’ll want to catch the following lines. From Costa Teguise (Number 11), Arrecife station (Number 14), Puerto del Carmen (Number 12), Playa Blanca (Number 13).

ARRECIFE

Arrecife’s Saturday morning market in the Plaza de San Ginés is well worth a trip if you like organic and fresh fruit and veg, local cheeses, baked goods, and other treats. The city centre usually has a buzz about it on Saturday, with plenty of shoppers and frequent events such as live music. It starts early at 8am, and winds up at 2pm.

To get here you’ll want to catch a bus to the Intercambiador De Guaguas stop on Arrecife’s seafront, which is approximately a 20 minutes walk from the Plaza de San Ginés.

HARÍA

Probably the prettiest market on the island, Haría’s main square fills with stalls selling handmade crafts and some organic fruit and veg on Saturday mornings from 10 am until 2.30 pm.

It’s worth visiting the municipal market on C/ Barranco de Tesnesia while you’re there. It’s a busy place with a handful of great little stalls.

MANCHA BLANCA

Every Sunday, the island’s farmers gather in Mancha Blanca to sell their organic and artisanal products from 9am until 2pm.

PLAYA HONDA

The second Saturday of each month, from 10am to 2pm, sees a market on Calle Mayor in Playa Honda.

PLAYA BLANCA

Souvenirs and gifts can be bought in the sleek surroundings of the Marina Rubicon every Wednesday and Saturday from 9am until 2pm. You might have an issue with parking, though, as the Marina offers little in the ways of spaces.

PUERTO CALERO

A very small market that’s held every Tuesday and Friday from 9am until 2pm. You’ll find approximately 7-10 stalls on the Puerto Calero promenade. As is the case with the Marina Rubicon, Puerto Calero’s parking is often jam packed and you will struggle to find parking on market days.

COSTA TEGUISE

A small night market in the lovely Pueblo Marinero held every Wednesday and Friday from 5pm until 8pm. The market offers local crafts and other souvenirs.
