A 70-year-old man drowned at Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen yesterday.
The incident occurred at around 1pm in the afternoon, when beach users noticed a bather floating, apparently unconscious, in the water. Lifeguards took him out of the water and tried to resuscitate him, sadly without success.
This is the seventh drowning on Lanzarote this year.
